“But this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning. Great is his faithfulness.”

AP is a Christian missionary and clinical mental health counselor in the countryside of the Dominican Republic.

Isn’t it crazy how God weaves the threads of our lives together? As a child, I would spend hours in our playroom taking care of all of my teddy bears in an orphanage I made on our carpet. Now, I have the privilege of serving a children’s home as a counselor for some of the most precious children in the world.

Background Information

Anne Peyton Baker, AP, is from Birmingham, AL and serves in the Dominican Republic as a Clinical Trauma Counselor. AP first volunteered with Kids Alive in March 2015 on a Here For Kids service team trip to Dominican Republic and has had the amazing privilege of returning many times. In 2018, AP earned her Bachelor's in Science in Engineering Sciences and Spanish from Vanderbilt University. AP is currently pursuing her Master's in Human Development Counseling from Vanderbilt University.

Throughout her time in college and her service trips in the Dominican Republic, AP’s desire to serve the Lord has grown in the area of relational ministry and counseling. She has witnessed how Christ authors redemption and healing through mental healthcare in the lives of her friends at school and in the Dominican Republic. Kids Alive's trauma informed care practices have impressed her, and she desires to participate in the healing of vulnerable children.

AP is based in Monte Plata, Dominican Republic where she works with children in individual and group therapy settings. She has a passion to work with those who have unjustly experienced the brokenness of this world at an early age, and she loves seeing how Christ restores lives time and time again. AP looks forward to working as a Spanish-speaking counselor, because it brings her such joy!
